Hong Kong: Police use tear gas as anti-govt. protests continue

Protesters gathered in Hong Kong's Sheung Wan area on Sunday evening, on the ninth consecutive weekend of demonstrations which were initially a reaction to a now suspended bill which would have allowed residents to be extradited to mainland China to face trial. Footage shows heavily armed police officers firing tear gas as protesters created blockades in the streets and used umbrellas to shield... Еще themselves. Green and blue laser pointers can also be spotted in demonstrators hands, which are reportedly used to disrupt facial recognition cameras. Despite the extradition bill being indefinitely suspended, the protest has now evolved into a wider anti-government movement calling for the legislation's total withdrawal and Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam's resignation.
