Hong Kong Police cancelled a press conference on Monday after six journalists staged a silent protest by wearing helmets bearing slogans like «stop violence and stop telling lies.»
The force asked the journalists to either take their hats off or leave the event, claiming that «this is not a place to stage a protest.»
When they refused, the police cut their live transmission and called off the... Еще press conference. «Your individual irresponsible and unprofessional behaviour deprived the other media to report the news from the police force. It is unfair,» said Police Public Relations Branch superintendent Bon Ko.
After leaving the police station, Ronson Chan, an executive member of Hong Kong Journalists Association, told the press that they were «discontent» with the treatment of journalists by officers during anti-government demonstrations.
Two journalists were arrested over the weekend, prompting the response.
