Hong Kong: Democratic party lawmaker accuses police of 'deliberately' allowing train attack

Democratic Party Legislative Councillor Lam Cheuk-ting accused Hong Kong's police of «deliberately» allowing violence against civilians at the Yuen Long train station on July 21, while meeting representatives of the Hong Kong Mass Transit Railway (MTR) with several victims of the attack in Hong Kong on Tuesday. «The Hong Kong police force deliberately allowed those gangsters [to] attack the... Еще civilians in Yuen Long station indiscriminately with weapons. It is a brutal and barbaric terrorist attack [that] happened in Hong Kong,» said Lam Cheuk-ting, who was also injured in the attack, while speaking at Hong Kong's Legislative Council Complex. Lam said that Hong Kong police «turned a blind eye to the ensemble of Triad members outside the Yuen Long station for so long, after the attack happened they only deployed two police officers to so-call 'handle' the attack, which is absolutely absurd.» On July 21, at least 45 people were injured after dozens of masked men attacked commuters and anti-government protesters inside the Hong Kong Mass Transit Railway (MTR) station of Yuen Long. The incident came after thousands hit the streets of Hong Kong to protest against the now-suspended mainland China extradition bill and demanded the resignation of the territory's Chief Executive Carrie Lam.
