Relatives of murdered indigenous activist Berta Caceres commented on the arrest of a hydroelectric company executive in connection with her 2016 killing, in La Esperanza, Honduras, on Saturday. The relatives of Berta Caceres arrived early in the day to lay flowers and clean the area around her grave. «Each year one person is captured, possibly when three years will pass another suspect will be... Еще captured,» said Augustina Flores, the activist's sister. «What is important is that one of the 'intellectual authors' [of the crime] has fallen, one who was constantly denounced by her,» she stated. David Castillo Mejia, the former executive president of hydroelectric firm Desarrollos Energeticos, is charged with helping plan Caceres' murder. He is the ninth person arrested in relation to the killing. The other eight people arrested are currently serving related sentences. Berta Caceres was shot dead at her residence on March 2, 2016. She was spearheading a campaign against the Agua Zarca Dam, a project being built by Desarrollos Energeticos on Rio Gualcarque. The river is sacred to Berta Caceres's Lenca people. Her grassroots campaign against the dam won her the Goldman Environmental Prize in 2015.
