Officers of the Honduras National Police force as well as members of Cobra units went on strike to protest against the alleged manipulation of the presidential election results and to show support for opposition candidate Salvador Nasralla, as footage filmed in Tegucigalpa shows. According to reports, some officers are refusing to obey their orders during the protests and instead are striking... Еще as they disagree with the government's actions. Director of the Centre for Research and Promotion of Human Rights (CIPRODEH) Wilfredo Méndez, who was in attendance at the protest, heralded the events as a sign that the officers are embracing their «police principles», as well as «the constitution, the law and international agreements». The Honduran Electoral Court partially recounted the votes of the election in light of the fraud allegations and electoral authorities announced yesterday night that incumbent President Juan Orlando Hernandez retained a lead of 1.59 percentage points over Nasralla. The electoral tribunal is yet to declare an official winner.
