One protester was killed after anti-government protests in Haiti's capital of Port-au-Prince turned violent on Thursday. Hundreds took to the streets to protest against President of Haiti Jovenel Moise and demand the arrest of those who allegedly stole US $2 billion (€1.6 billion) in Venezuelan oil loans. A dozen former government officials, as well as several businessmen, stand accused of embezzling over US $2 billion of public funds which was owed to Venezuela due to oil loans. A special Haitian Senate commission has concluded that the money should have been spent on rebuilding the country following its devastating earthquake in 2010.
