Greece: UNHCR evacuates refugees stranded on the seaside in northern Lesbos

The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) evacuated nearly 120 migrants and refugees, who had arrived at the Greek island of Lesbos from Turkey on boats in the past few days. Footage filmed on Tuesday shows a group of asylum seekers, mostly from Afghanistan, getting into UNHCR vans. The agency's official working there did not provide any details on where exactly the refugees would be taken to after the... Еще registration. The UNHCR helped the new-comers to set up temporary tents right on the seaside, as roads to Moria refugee camp remained blocked by local residents, opposing the new influx of migrants from the Turkish side. Huge numbers of migrants and refugees have been heading to Turkey's European border since after president Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Ankara would no longer try to prevent migrants and refugees from reaching Europe. The move came after at least 33 Turkish troops were killed in an airstrike in Syria's Idlib province on Thursday.
