Thousands of anti-war activists rallied in Athens on Saturday, to protest against the US military airstrike which killed Iranian General Qassem Soleimani last week, the potential for another conflict arising in the Middle East, and urge the Greek government not to get involved in any military operation in the region.
The peaceful rally started in central Athens and headed toward the US Embassy... Еще, where demonstrators chanted slogans and carried banners.
«The Greek anti-war movement is in the streets today against the new US military bases. We ask the government not to interfere or intervene in a new imperialist war in the Middle East,” said one protester.
The action was held by a number of organisations, including the Movement United Against Racism and the Fascist Threat (KEERFA). A rally was also held in the Greek city of Thessaloniki.
