Greece: Police clash with students demanding better safety conditions against COVID-19

Police clashed with students who were holding a rally in downtown Athens on Thursday to demand better safety measures for the operation of schools amid the coronavirus pandemic. After hundreds of protesters where seen peacefully marching through the centre of the Greek capital, several students were seen throwing stones, flares, and petrol bombs at police, who responded with tear gas in an attempt to disperse the crowds. The rally was held to demand, among other things, a reduction in the number of students per class (up to 15 students per class), the recruitment of more teachers, and additional cleaning staff.
