Greece: Hundreds storm Athens Labour Ministry demanding justice for workers

SOT, Protester (Greek): «15 times you are saying the same thing. 15 times you are immovable.» Around 500 protesters from the All-Workers Militant Front (PAME) stormed the Greek Ministry of Labour in Athens, Tuesday, demanding just salaries and fair treatment for workers. People crashed the iron curtain and broke glass doors, entering into the building in a bid to call Greek Labour Minister... Еще Effie Achtsioglou to account. People were also worried about possible restrictions on strikes that may come into force in Greece soon. The Labour Minister met with protesters saying, «We have met 15 times in this office and we analysed all these issues.» This didn't seem to calm people, who responded with annoyance, «15 times you are saying the same thing. 15 times you are immovable.» Dimos Koubouris, head of the Coordinating Committee for Pensioners said that the current Greek government abolishes all the rights workers are entitled to. «The wages of our children have become slave wages,” regretted Koubouris. Protesters opposed austerity measures put on Greece in exchange for European Union and International Monetary Fund bailing it out from bankruptcy.
