Greece: Court backs bitcoin fraud suspect's extradition to Russia — lawyer

Therefore the issue of the Russian extradition demand has concluded.» A court in Thessaloniki ruled in favour of the extradition of Alexander Vinnik to Russia, Wednesday, the defendent's lawyer stated. A court had previously approved an extradition request made by the US on October 4, a decision which has been appealed and is expected to go to trial over the next few weeks. According to Alexandros Lykourezos, Vinnik's lawyer, «Vinnik's wish is to be extradited to Russia and to answer in front of Russian judicial authorities.» Vinnik, a 38-year-old Russian national, is wanted in the US for alleged cybercrimes equating to $4 billion (€3.4bn), including money laundering. He was arrested on July 25 in the Greek resort in Halkidiki on a US warrant.
