Protesters clashed with police in Thessaloniki on Thursday, on the tenth anniversary of the killing of 15-year old Alexis Grigoropoulos by police in Athens.
Protesters threw molotov cocktails and stones at police, who responded with tear gas. Protesters set rubbish containers set on fire in the streets.
Alexis Grigoropoulos was 15 years old when he was killed in 2008 by two police officers... Еще who were involved in an argument with a group of teenagers in central Athens' Exarcheia district. The officers were found guilty of murder and of acting as an accomplice respectively.
Grigoropoulos’ death resulted in large protests throughout Greece, and solidarity demonstrations around the world. The death of the teen is marked every year in several cities across Greece, often resulting in violent clashes.
