A giant Christmas hamper weighting over 10 tonnes was handed out to one lucky winner at the Santa Anita Farmer's Market end-of-year raffle in Lima on Saturday.
The oversized hamper contained various produce, ranging from basic foodstuffs like sugar, rice, oil, to more festive items like panettones and chocolate. This year's raffle was won by Walter Baldeon Flores in absentia, who was notified by... Еще phone.
To win what is claimed to be the biggest gift basket in the world, competitors had to purchase a product from the market to receive a raffle ticket. The main prize is designated to be received by one single person and contains enough products to start an independent business, which raffle winners have done in previous years.
The Santa Anita Farmer's Market stretches over 60 hectares, making it Peru's biggest market, and is the economic pillar for thousands of farmers, traders and transport workers.
