A so-called 'weapon return station' was installed by an artist collective in front of the Federal Chancellery, in Berlin on Tuesday.
The artist collective of the 'Centre for political beauty' who run the project, said they wanted to draw attention to numerous weapons and ammunition missing from the Bundeswehr (the unified armed forces of Germany) inventory and pass all tips received onto the Federal Ministry of Defence for further investigation.
'Captain Schmidt', an activist of the collective, said, «Primarily it is about determining, where 60 kilograms of explosives, gelignites are. 50 grams are enough to down an airplane, 1,000 hand grenades can be manufactured with 60 kilograms. This is a real threat to the public.''
Several other similar installations have been set up across Germany.
