Germany: 'We're steering into abyss of human suffering' — Maas on Idlib

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas commented on the situation in Idlib and the broader Syrian conflict while speaking at a presser alongside the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross Peter Maurer in Berlin on Thursday. Maas stressed that 'together with our partners and allies, we are trying everything at the moment to avoid aggravation, further aggravation, in Idlib... Еще.' «Despite all talks in the last few days, we are worried that we're steering into an abyss of human suffering with eyes wide open,» Maas added. Maas also said that there 'needs to be possibilities to pursue and to punish' those who he called 'Islamic terrorists who made themselves conspicuous with outrageous atrocities in the last few years in Syria and beyond. But this doesn't justify endangering the lives of three million people.»
