Germany: 'We must integrate' — study links crime to 'frustrated' migrants

Spokesperson for the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth Verena Herb commented on a recent study, which has linked the increased crime rate with the latest waves of migrants. She was speaking at the press conference in Berlin, Wednesday. She stated that the study «shows once again that we must not abandon those who come to us but actively provide integration... Еще». «That means, for example, compulsory and comprehensive integration and language courses, more places in kindergartens and schools,» said Herb. She underlined that this does not regard those who faced deportation as it was the only one measure to prevent «boredom and frustration leading to criminal behavior.» The latest study carried out by Zurich's University of Applied Sciences found that 10.4 percent of criminal cases occurred in tandem with the rise of the migrant arrivals. According to the data, the number of offences committed by foreigners was as twice that of crimes committed by the German citizens. The study is focused on the situation in the Lower Saxony.
