Germany: 'We have a lot of homework to do' — Merkel laments drop in votes

German Chancellor Angela Merkel vowed take heed of voter's concerns, in Hildesheim on Wednesday, as she addressed supporters during her regional elections opening campaign speech. Speaking to a packed hall, Merkel added that voters who did not side with Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU) in the elections are the ones whose votes she now seeks. Her comments came as CDU politician... Еще Bernd Althusmann started his election campaign in an attempt to become minister president of Lower Saxony, after it had been ruled by the Social Democrats during the last governmental term. The regional elections in Lower Saxony were originally scheduled for January 2018, but have since been brought forward to October 15 after its regional government collapsed.
