German Interior Minister Horst Seehofer stated that «two temporary arrests» had been made over the murder of CDU politician Walter Luebcke. He made the announcement during a press conference at the Federal Press Conference building in Berlin on Thursday.
Seehofer said that the «backgrounds of [the alleged perpetrators of] this disgusting act» still remain unknown.
The Kassel regional... Еще administration head Walter Luebcke was fatally shot by a suspect with apparent far-right ties on June 2, 2019.
During the press conference, Seehofer presented the 2018 Intelligence report alongside the President of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV), which indicates that far-right violence is on the rise in Germany.
«Right-wing extremists’ potential at the end of 2018 reached a total of 24,100 people. Therefore it grew again by 100 people,» explained the interior minister. Haldenwang added that «more than every second right-wing extremist has to be ranked as violence-orientated.»
The report also states that criminal actions pursued by left-wing extremists are «distinctly declining.»
