Germany: There is 'no natural route in any direction' — SDP leader on coalition collapse Leader of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Martin Schulz said that there was «no natural route in any direction» after the recent break down of the so-called 'Jamaica' coalition talks, during a press conference in Berlin on Friday. He went on to say that the SDP are set to hold «many talks» with Angela... Еще Merkel's Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party over the next days and weeks. «Of course the SPD and the acting Federal Government will continue to work together,» Schulz assured. The SDP leader also reiterated his party's loyalty to Europe; «I have reassured them [Europe] that the SDP is aware of its responsibility to Germany but also to Europe.» The recent collapse of coalition talks between the CDU, the Free Democratic Party (FDP) and the Greens has thrown the future of the German government into uncertainty.
