Taxi drivers in Wiesbaden joined a nation-wide protest on Wednesday to condemn proposed taxi law changes by Federal Minister of Transport Andreas Scheuer which will see added competition from companies like Uber.
Nearly 1000 taxi drivers from Koblenz, Darmstadt, Limburg, Frankfurt, and Offenbach joined Wiesbaden drivers to rally to the city’s chancellery to protest the amendments to the Passenger... Еще Transport Act introduced by Scheuer.
«He is pursuing the interest of the lobby,» said one taxi driver, while another added that new transportation companies such as Uber were comparatively less focused on the well-being of their passengers.
According to the changes envisioned by Scheuer, the market will become more accessible to companies such as Uber. Another planned amendment, called the 'return obligation' will force drivers to return to the original pick-up point instead of seeking out passengers in the destination area.
