Germany: «Swiftly but carefully» — parties set 4 February deadline for coalition talks

The negotiating German parties hope to conclude their coalition talks as far as possible by the 4th of February, said Member of the Bundestag for the Christian Social Union (CDU) Michael Grosse-Broemer, speaking from the Konrad-Adenauer-House in Berlin on Friday. Еще Christian Social Union (CSU) Horst Seehofer, Grosse-Broemer explained that 18 work groups have been set up to deliver results to a closed-door meeting on February 4th, which is intended to be a «conclusive consultation». However, if a conclusion is not decisively reached by that date, two further days of negotiations are available for the parties involved. Grosse-Broemer pledged that the negotiators will work «swiftly but carefully» to form a new coalition government.
