Germany: Storm Herwart batters the North Sea coastline

The northern German seaport of Bremerhaven suffered flooding and high winds as Storm Herwart made landfall in the early hours of Sunday morning. Roads flooded, cars were towed and metre high waves washed over the quayside as the sea level in the area reached 8ft (2.5m) higher than normal. “I live here and we came out to go to the club, but the water was higher than I've ever seen before since... Еще I moved here,” explained resident Eno Hagedorn. The Weser ferry service was also forced to shut down in the wake of the storm.
