The Social Democrat leaders from various German states, Malu Dreyer (Rhineland-Palatinate), Manuela Schwesig (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) and Thorsten Schafer-Gumbel (Hesse), held a press conference in Berlin on Monday, following Andrea Nahles' resignation.
Nahles, who was the SPD's Chairperson, decided to step down following heavy losses in the European elections.
«The party is not headless, and it... Еще is also not directionless,» said Dreyer. «All three of us stand for this transition, all three of us stand for not running for party leadership.»
The trio will lead the party until its conference on June 24, where Schafer-Gumbel said decision would be made.
