A 24-year-old driver rammed into a group of people in Berlin on Sunday after losing control of his vehicle while turning left on a junction due to high speed, injuring seven pedestrians.
Police investigators were seen deployed on site, examining the area of the crush near the Zoologischer Garten station, as firefighters tried to set up traffic light pole.
«An accident occurred this early morning at Hardenbergplatz in Berlin. Around 7:20am [local time], a 24 year old was driving his car. He wanted to turn left from the Joachimsthaler Strasse into the Hardenbergstrasse, lost control of his car on the junction, crashed into the sidewalk and injured seven people,» explained the Berlin police High commissioner and spokesperson, Martin Halweg.
«The 24 year old was arrested by federal police officers at the scene and brought to police custody. A special investigation unit of the traffic crime unit is on location and investigates against the 24 year old for suspicion of manslaughter,» he added.
Halweg also said that based on the driver's high speed, «he accepted injuries and even the death of people without further consideration.''
