Once inside the convention centre Seehofer and CSU Secretary General Andreas Scheuer encountered businesspeople sceptical of another grand coalition with the Social Democratic Party (SPD). The Minister President of Bavaria sought to play down their fears. «The Jamaica coalition, when you look at it, we could have worked well with it. And you can be confident that the same basis applies for the SPD,» Seehofer said. The CSU party conference was supposed to take place in November but was postponed for the duration of the 'Jamaica coalition' talks which ended in failure.
