Germany: Sec. Gen Kramp-Karrenbauer wins first round of CDU party leadership vote

Christian Democractic Union (CDU) Secretary General Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer won the first round of voting for the position as the CDU leader, during the party’s conference in Hamburg on Friday. In 999 valid votes, Anne Kramp-Karrenbauer received 45 percent of the vote, Friedrich Merz 39 percent and Jens Spahn 15 percent of the corresponding vote.
