Passengers were filmed queueing at Berlin's airports, Tegel and Schoenefeld, as Germany relaxed all inter-EU travel and welcomed travellers after three months of coronavirus closures, which began in March.
Some coronavirus measures — such as social distancing and face masks — were still in place, and signs were set up at both airports as a reminder for the passengers.
«Yeah, I was definitely a bit nervous when I got into the airport because when you get through security, you could tell that the staff are really stressed and kind of fed up,» said James Turning, a passenger arriving from the United Kingdom.
Celiene Decker, another passenger, added, «Yeah, I'd say the atmosphere wasn't that chill. It was really quiet and [all] that. That was maybe a change as well, and people wanted to get through in that point, as well... It wasn't, like, really an enjoyment anymore.»
