Germany: Police clear houses occupied by Hambach Forest activists

German police cleared two houses occupied by environmental activists in Kerpen-Manheim, near the Hambach Forest, on Thursday. Footage shows police detaining several activists as well as using a lift platform to remove one of the protesters from the roof of one of the buildings. By the end of October, police had already cleared 13 occupied houses located in the area and evicted 23 squatters. Protesters have been occupying the remaining area of the Hambach Forest since 2012, in an effort to block RWE's planned expansion of its open-pit coal mine.
