German police began the eviction of environmental activists from their camps in a section of Hambach forest on Thursday. Police vans can be seen approaching the forest, before police officers in riot gear start removing environmental activists from their tree houses. The occupation started around six years ago, when a small group of activists decided to give up electricity and running water... Еще and dwell in the forest to fight against the expansion of a nearby coal mine. Hambach is currently home to some 150 people who live in tree houses. The activists oppose the plan of the energy company RWE to extend the biggest open pit coal mine in Europe.
