Germany: Police beef up presence in downtown Stuttgart after night of clashes

Eleven people were arrested in Stuttgart after renewed clashes with the Police overnight on Friday into Saturday morning. One member of the public and four policemen were injured. As a result, police increased their contingent by 200 officers around Palace Square, as seen in the city centre on Saturday evening, as they prepared for another possible night of confrontations. On June 21, hundreds of people clashed with the police, rioted and looted businesses in Stuttgart’s city centre after a 17-year-old was reportedly arrested over an alleged drug offence.
