Germany: Party leaders arrive for third day of coalition talks

The third day of exploratory talks between Germany’s main political parties started Tuesday at the Bavarian Representation in Berlin. Head of the SPD Martin Schulz said, «Sunday and yesterday proved to be very work intensive days, which are necessary because we have a long list of topics to work through.» Minister for Labour and Social Affairs Andrea Nahles urged politicians to take... Еще responsibility, «It was very aggravating that there were announcements of provisional results. I can only call on everybody in the [CDU/CSU] union to finally switch off the Jamaica modus.» Interior Minister of Bavaria Host Joachim Herrmann from the CSU feels like the SPD is a «genuine partner» despite problems which differ from those with the FDP. A small peaceful protest took place outside the building calling for an end to factory farming. Protesters chanted, «SPD and CDU, don't let the chicks die.» Since the collapse of the so-called Jamaica coalition talks, Merkel has thus far been unable to persuade the SPD to enter into another grand coalition. The growing political instability has raised the possibility of fresh elections or a minority government.
