Chairman of the Christian Social Union (CSU) Horst Seehofer said that no final agreement had been reached during the “Jamaica coalition” talks, in Berlin on Friday. Exploratory talks, a precursor to official negotiations, look set to continue beyond their Friday morning deadline. Seehofer admitted that there are differences on a number of policy areas. For example we did move on climate, on transports, on agriculture, on coal, and on social matters. That is why in this game, after we moved, we expect others (partners) to move (toward our direction).» Representatives of the CSU, its sister party — the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), the Free Democratic Party (FDP) and the Greens are currently negotiating the viability of a Jamaica coalition; named after the combination of party colours: black, yellow and green, which match those of the Jamaican flag.
