Germany: New CDU leader Kramp-Karrenbauer attends CSU winter retreat in Bavaria

The recently elected new leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, spoke to reporters in Bavaria on Saturday, while attending the Christian Social Union's (CSU) winter retreat at Seeon Abbey in Seebruck. AKK compared the relationship between the CDU and the CSU to that between siblings, saying that «you argue with each other, but when the neighbouring children... Еще come, then you stick together» and added that «that's how it will be with the cooperation for this federal government.» She added that the two parties were bound together by «a firm determination to tackle energetically the challenges that lie ahead.» AKK was elected as the CDU's new head by a slim majority at a party conference in Hamburg on December 10, after Chancellor Angela Merkel declined to run again for the position she had held for the last 18 years.
