Merry Christmas.» German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Christian Social Union (CSU) Chairperson Horst Seehofer and SPD Leader Martin Schulz held their first official coalition negotiations at the CDU headquarters in Berlin on Wednesday. According to a CDU and CSU joint press release, today's meeting between the leaders was open and trustful, the CDU and CSU representatives made it clear that together with the SPD they want to explore ways to build a stable government, adding that the SPD will discuss and decide on Friday within their own committees. Christian Social Union Chairperson Horst Seehofer refused to give any details immediately after the talks.
