Germany: Merkel booed as she delivers election campaign speech at rally in Brandenburg

German Chancellor and Christian Democratic Union Party (CDU) leader Angela Merkel was met by a simultaneous chorus of boos and cheers as she held an election campaign rally in Brandenburg an der Havel, Tuesday, addressing the audience with CDU's political manifesto, as well as issues such as the refugee crisis and domestic security. Merkel spoke about the refugee crisis, stating that «many... Еще people from other countries, from Syria and Iraq came» to Germany «as refugees in a difficult humanitarian situation, [...] in a humanitarian emergency.» She then proceeded to thank local politicians for dealing with such a «difficult situation.» The chancellor ignored the booing by AFD and NPD supporters as she then touched on the issue of domestic security, promising her audience that her party «will do everything to fight the horrific criminality on border zones.» Merkel also stated that Germany will not «settle for criminality» and that «attackers will receive a just punishment.»
