Germany: 'Intermediate results' reached in coalition talks — CSU Secretary General

Secretary General of the Christian Social Union in Bavaria (CSU) Andreas Scheuer talked about «intermediate results» being achieved on the third day of exploratory talks for forming a government between Germany’s main political parties, in Berlin on Tuesday. Talking to press outside the Bavarian Representation in Berlin, Scheuer said «some things are easier, some things are surely harder. We... Еще have intermediate results, nothing is certain,» adding that «since the start of the exploratory talks and even in the preliminary talks we have set a good foundation of trust and collegiality.» Since the collapse of the so-called Jamaica coalition talks, German Chancellor Angela Merkel has thus far been unable to persuade the Social Democratic Party (SPD) to enter into another grand coalition. The growing political instability has raised the possibility of fresh elections or a minority government.
