Despite empty halls amid coronavirus pandemic and strict event regulations, exhibitors and managers of Germany's most-visited trade show for consumer electronics and home appliances, IFA 2020 (International Electronics Fair), felt positive on the first day of the fair in Berlin on Thursday.
«The IFA 2020 is a real live event. I see it as a symbol for all of us to show that we can look beyond. Beyond the pandemic, beyond economic fallout, beyond all these uncertainties. There is a normal ahead,» said Jens Heithecker, IFA Executive Director, while addressing the media at the opening ceremony.
Kai Hillebrandt, Managing Director Panasonic Germany, expressed his hope that the show would provide an opportunity for the home electronics industry to present the new products and services fo the first time since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.
«Even in this extraordinary year, IFA will once more have unavailable positive impacts on the global markets as a platform showcasing innovations with numerous presentations of new products,» he said.
IFA is one of the oldest industrial exhibitions in Germany and one of the most important trade shows in the world. It is jointly organised by The German Association for Entertainment and Communications Electronics and Messe Berlin GmbH.
