Police entered on Tuesday the third day of their search for a 31-year-old man who is believed to have disarmed four police officers in Oppenau, a small town in the Black Forest, and has been on the run ever since.
On Tuesday more than 200 police officers supported by dogs and helicopters focused the search in the forests around the hut where the suspect allegedly lived.
The 31-year-old man is believed to be armed with a bow, arrows, a pistol and a knife. He disarmed four officers during a police check on Sunday and took their weapons.
Police said the man, who is on probation, is considered dangerous and although schools are open again after closing on Monday, residents should stay at home as far as possible, and drivers are urged not to pick up hitchhikers in the area.
Investigators assume that the man is still in the Oppenau region
