Government representatives confirmed that personal data belonging to hundreds of Germany's politicians has been published online at a Federal Press Conference (BPK) in Berlin on Friday.
According to Interior Ministry Spokesperson Soeren Schmidt, «all parties of the Federal Government could have been affected» by the data breach.
Schmidt refused to comment on whether the data published online... Еще had been obtained by hackers, or leaked by a source with internal access to the information.
«Politicians and elected representatives on all levels have been affected, as well as the European Parliament, the Federal Government, the state parliament, but also local elected representatives,» said Government Spokesperson Martina Fietz.
The Federal Office for Information Security and the National Cyberdefence Centre are leading the investigation into the data breach.
