Hundreds of left-wing demonstrators marched through Berlin's Neukolln neighbourhood, on Friday, to protest the eviction of the local left-wing bar Syndikat, which was carried out earlier in the day.
The protesters chanted 'Police out of the neighbourhoods,' 'Syndikat stays' and 'Down with uniforms, down with the rent,' while marching through the neighbourhood where the pub is located.
On Thursday night, clashes erupted between protesters and riot police, prompting an increased number of police officers and barricades in front of the bar on Friday.
According to reports, in 2018 Syndikat failed to reach an agreement on the renewal of their lease with the owners of the building, who are reported to be a billionaire family from the UK owning thousands of properties in the German capital.
The original eviction date was set for April but was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
