Hundreds of people gathered in Stuttgarter Schlossgarten park in Stuttgart on Saturday to denounce coronavirus restrictions and demand the observance of fundamental human rights.
Footage shows people sitting on the grass with placards reading «Away with the masks» and «Demo for living in freedom.» Moreover, a wedding table with a dummy wearing a dress could also be seen in the video as a sign of protest against cancelled marriage ceremonies.
«There will a lot of businesses that won't survive this crisis,» said Stefan Smidt, an activist.
He added, «it won't help the industry when banks give them credits to survive the crisis because they will spend years to pay these credits.
The rally was organised by Querdenken 711 initiative (German, unconventional thinkers) whose members believe coronavirus restrictions threaten freedom and limit rights.
On March 11, German Chancellor Angela Merkel explained that the measures were necessary in order «to win time in the fight against the virus.» Merkel stressed that the goal was not to overwhelm the German health system.
