Germany: Guttenberg return to politics with immigration speech

Former German Minister of Defence Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg delivered an election campaign speech for the Christian Social Union in Bavaria (CSU) in Kulmbach, on Wednesday, making a return to German politics after resigning six years ago following a plagiarism scandal. The former politician of the CSU was warmly welcomed by an audience of 1,200 people packed into the town hall together with 80... Еще journalists from Germany and abroad. During his lively speech, in his current role as electoral campaigner, Guttenberg praised German Chancellor Angela Merkel and discussed topics including immigration and integration amongst others. He joked with the audience, «You have to stand up for your culture, where they know that if a lazy politician talks for 1.5 hours it is time for a good glass of beer, ladies and gentlemen.» Guttenberg resigned from all political offices after his plagiarism in 2011 and moved to the USA. He plans to deliver several speeches in the next week throughout Bavaria.
