Party Chairman of the SPD Thuringia Wolfgang Tiefensee, Party Chairman of the Green Party Thuringia Dirk Adams and Spokesperson for Die Linke Thuringia Stefan Dittes called on Thuringia's newly-elected Minister President Thomas Kemmerich to announce his resignation by Sunday over an election scandal, representatives told the press in Erfurt on Thursday.
SPD chairperson in Thuringia Wolfgang... Еще Tiefensee addressed the media, saying that «we expect clear messages, in particular by the Minister President [Kemmerich] to clearly say 'Yes I resign. We also expect that to happen without any preconditions.»
«We want him to deliver this message by the end of Sunday, in order to send a clear signal to the people that there is a new way,» Tiefensee added.
Kemmerich announced on Thursday that he would resign and request a dissolution of the state parliament following the outcry over his election.
He had won support from the AfD and the conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU) to defeat the incumbent Bodo Ramelow by one vote. Ramelow led the ruling coalition of Die Linke, SPD and the Green party in the German state of Thuringia before losing to Kemmerich by a single vote.
