Germany: Government confirms deportation of German citizen from Egypt

German Foreign Ministry spokesperson Christopher Burger confirmed that German citizen Mahmoud Abdel Aziz was deported from Egypt early on Friday, during the weekly press conference of spokespeople for various German federal ministries in Berlin on Friday. Abdel Aziz was detained in Cairo last month on suspicions of plotting terrorism. Another German citizen, Isa El Sabbagh, was also detained in... Germany's Ministry of Economic Affairs reportedly revealed on Thursday that German firms sold €160 million [$184 million] worth of arms to Saudi Arabia between January and October 2018. Germany decided to halt arms exports to Saudi Arabia in November, due to the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
