The German government condemns «clearly and distinctly each form of threat and violence» aimed at politicians, government spokesperson Ulrike Demmer said at a weekly press conference in the German capital on Monday. She was commenting the latest death threats against the Green Party's politicians Cem Ozdemir and Claudia Roth.
Speaking on the package of measures to fight right-wing political... Еще violence approved by the German cabinet on Wednesday, Demmer said: «The measures to fight right-wing extremism and hate crimes... must also help in addressing the problem of a death threat and increase the pressure to prosecute such violations.»
She continued: «We can't and we won't accept such attacks on our free basis democratic order and we will answer with all the possible means of the rule of law. We will continue our work more active on the prevention of the right-extremism ideology.»
Following the recent anti-Semitic attack in the German city of Halle, which left two people dead and several injured, the German government approved new measures to tackle right-wing extremism. One of the new measures is a tightening of Germany's gun control laws and obliging online platforms and social media to inform security agencies and police about hate content.
