Germany: German, Qatari FMs open «Arab Culture House» in Berlin

German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel and Qatari counterpart Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman al-Thani jointly inaugurated the Arab Culture House 'Der Diwan' in Berlin, Tuesday. Speaking to the press and attendees at the opening ceremony, the Qatari foreign minister said, «We are looking forward, through the Arabic Cultural House, to deepening the fruitful cooperation and the bridge in communication... Еще, between the Arabic and German cultures.» «Let us all join hands to remove barriers, and build the bridges of communications,» Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman al-Thani followed. On his end, Gabriel highlighted Germany's experiences in cultural collaboration with neighbouring countries after World War II, saying, «After 70 years, we saw that it is possible, even after a world war, to be a partner in a first step, and friends in a second.» Gabriel went on to say that «this is maybe a special German and European experience we can share with any other region all over the world, where people are sometimes looking in deep rooted conflict and cannot see any way out of the conflicts.» The Arab Culture House 'Der Diwan' is located in a previously private villa built between 1904 and 1907 in the Berlin district of Zehlendorf.
