Germany: Frankfurt's Kurds call on Russia to take action against Turkey's 'Olive Branch'

Dozens of Kurds gathered in front of the Russian consulate in Frankfurt on Tuesday to protest against the ongoing Turkish offensive in Syria's Afrin. Protesters held banners and flags while chanting slogans against Turkish President Tayyip Recep Erdogan. A local Kurdish activist, Jahanbachsch Rostami, said that the protest is «against Russian policies, Putin's policies, which are being... Еще carried out in Afrin these days.» He went on blaming Erdogan for allowing self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) fighters to re-enter the area and called on «Putin and the Russian Federation to close Syrian airspace again.» The Turkish-led 'Olive Branch' military operation against YPG Kurdish militants in Afrin carries on despite the international community's warnings of an urgent humanitarian crisis in northern Syria.
