Former chief of Alternative for Germany (AfD) party in the state of Brandenburg Andreas Kalbitz held a rally in Senftenberg on Friday after a court in Berlin restored his membership. Around 200 counter-protesters demonstrated nearby.
«My interests are objective and productive, to work together with the party and therefore I stand together with all those who were elected and are really competent to fulfil this task,» said Kalbitz.
The Berlin district court declared Kalbitz's exclusion by the party's federal executive committee invalid. He was expelled from AfD a month ago for taking part in activities of the Heimattreue Deutsche Jugend (HDJ), a banned extreme right organisation.
