Germany: Far-right member sentenced to life for police officer murder

A 50-year-old German citizen was sentenced to life in Nuremberg on Monday for murdering a police officer during a raid. The accused, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, opened fire on police when they raided is home in Georgensgmund, Bavaria, in an attempt to confiscate a cache of 30 hunting weapons. He is allegedly part of the far-right Reichsburger movement. The Reichsburger... Еще movement is the name for several far-right groups that refuse to recognise the modern German Republic, insisting that Germany never signed a peace treaty at the end of World War II and the country’s 1937 borders still exist. Members of the group often refuse to pay tax, print their own passports, hold firearms and are believed to number around 15,000 individuals.
