Germany: Expulsions will not affect ‘friendship’ at World Cup — Russian Ambassador

Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechayev said that World Cup tourists will “enjoy Russian friendship” this June and July despite the several country’s decision to expel Russian diplomats, during a press conference in Berlin on Tuesday. “This is part of the political agenda. We have already explained our opinion about this incident; we’re protesting hard and cannot accept that. It's an... Еще unfriendly gesture, but that's politics,” said Nechayev. President of the German Football Association Reinhard Grindel added that the World Cup in Russia was a chance to create bridges between countries. Grindel also explained the use of the fan-ID system that “allows fans to travel around Russia, not only at the venue, but up to ten days before and after a game.” Secretary General of the Russian Football Association Jekaterina Fedyschina said that celebrating the World Cup in Russia “this is a big responsibility and at the same time a joy, because it's a possibility to discover Russia, not only the popular places like Moscow or Saint Petersburg, but also other places with their own culture.”
